How It Works
USA shipping at Akira Hobbies works on a Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) basis through Taiwan Post (Chunghwa Post). That means you pay nothing on arrival — no surprise customs bill, no broker chasing you for fees. We handle all of it at checkout.
Why pricing looks different for USA orders
On 29th of August 2025 the US government ended the $800 de minimis exemption that previously let small parcels enter duty-free. Every parcel now incurs import duty regardless of value. Taiwan Post reopened USA shipping on 1st of June 2026 with a new service that lets us pre-pay the duty on your behalf, so the parcel clears US Customs without delay.
What you pay at checkout
- Products — priced in USD as shown on each listing.
- Shipping — Taiwan Post Air Parcel, calculated by parcel weight.
- USA Import Duty & Handling — a flat 15.5% of your product subtotal. This covers everything collected at time of mailing: the US import duty (per current US tariff rules), the postal customs broker’s processing fee, and a US$2 per-parcel handling fee. All charges are prepaid on your behalf, so nothing further is collected when USPS delivers.
Nothing further is collected by USPS on delivery.
Order limit: USD 300 per order
To keep customs handling simple and predictable, USA orders are capped at USD 300 per order. If you’d like to buy more, please place two or more separate orders. Use coupon code RCTAIWAN10 for 10% off each order. If you need help splitting a larger order, email us at info@akirahobbies.com and we’ll arrange it.
Phone number and email required
US Customs and USPS require a valid recipient phone number and email address on every parcel for clearance and delivery notifications. Please make sure both are correct on your account before checkout. Orders without a valid phone number cannot be shipped.
Delivery
Once your parcel clears the Taiwan Post DDP process, it ships via Air Parcel and is handed to USPS on arrival in the USA for last-mile delivery. Typical transit time is 10–18 business days. You’ll receive a Taiwan Post tracking number (format: CG##########TW) which remains valid all the way through to delivery — you can track it on the Taiwan Post website or on USPS once it enters the US system.
